Oppy the Robot
In the future, there are no people. Only robots live in the world. They work, play, and help each other.
One of these robots is Oppy. Oppy is kind and always wants to help his friends.
One day, his friend Blex came to him. Blex was sad.
“Oppy, my arm is bad. I cannot do work with a bad arm. What can I do?”
Oppy smiled. “Do not worry, Blex. I will give you my arm.”

“But if you give me your arm, you will only have one arm left,” Blex said.
“That is not a problem,” Oppy said. “I want to help you.”
So, Oppy gave his arm to Blex. Now Blex could work again, and he was happy. Oppy only had one arm, but he was happy too. He helped his friend.
A few days later, another friend, Rix, came to Oppy.
“Oppy, my leg is broken. I cannot walk or run. I have a basketball game tonight! What can I do?”
Oppy smiled again. “Do not worry, Rix. I will give you one of my legs.”
“But if you give me a leg, you will only have one leg,” Rix said.
“That is not a problem,” Oppy said. “I want to help you. You are my wonderful friend.β
So, Oppy gave his good leg to Rix. Now Rix could walk and run again, and he was happy. Rix played in his basketball game.
Oppy only had one leg, but he was happy too. He helped his friend.
A week later, Oppy’s friend Jono came to him. Jono was very sad.
“Oppy, one of my batteries is very weak. I will stop working soon. What should I do?”
Oppy smiled. “Do not worry, Jono. I will give you one of my batteries. I have two batteries.”
“But Oppy, if you give me one of your batteries, you will not have enough power. You will stop working well,” Jono said.
“That is not a problem,” Oppy said. “I want to help. You are my friend.β
So, Oppy gave a battery to Jono, and soon, Jono felt strong again, and she was happy now. Oppy was now very weak, but he was happy too.
Days passed, and more of Oppyβs friends needed help.
One friend needed a new eye. One friend needed a new hand. One friend needed a new box. Oppy gave away everything he had.
In the end, he was only a head with one eye.
His head was on a big rock near some flowers. He smiled.
He could smile. He still had a mouth too.

“I have helped my friends. That makes me happy.β
After some time, Oppy said βI want arms, legs, and a body again. I want a strong battery again. I want two eyes. I want to help my friends again.
Giving my arms and legs to my friends is good, but using my arms and legs to help my friends is better.β
Oppy’s friends felt sad when they heard about this.
“Oppy helped us all,” said Blex. “Now we must help him.”
“Yes!” said Rix. “Letβs work extra hours and save money.”
So, Oppy’s friends worked very hard for three weeks. They saved all the money they could. Then, they went to the robot shop and bought new parts for Oppy.
They bought him strong new legs, strong new arms, and a strong new body.
When they brought the parts to Oppy, he was very surprised.
“What is this?” he asked.
“These are for you, Oppy!” said Jono. “You helped us, and now we want to help you. You are a wonderful friend.”

Oppy’s friends put the new body, arms, and legs on him. They gave him a new eye. Now, he was better than before! He stood and moved his arms and legs.
“Thank you, my friends!” Oppy said. “I feel strong again! I feel wonderful!”
His friends smiled. “You gave to us, and now we give to you!”
From that day on, Oppy and his friends always helped each other. And they were the happiest robots in the world.
